HOUSTON (Oct.3) — With Houston Oiler and Texas Longhorn legend Earl Campbell as the Guest of Honor and fellow NFL Hall of Fame media member John McClain serving as Master of Ceremonies, the Bejeweled 2019 charity event benefitting The Center for Success and Independence (TCSI) on February 16 at Alara Garage has become the premier must-attend event on the 2019 calendar.
“We are expecting a sell-out and hope for lots of community and corporate involvement so this year’s event will be our most successful ever,” said Robert Woods, co-founder of TCSI and a former teammate to Campbell during the Houston Oilers “Luv Ya Blue” days. “Having Earl Campbell join us as our Guest of Honor and ‘The General’ John McClain as our emcee, I can’t wait to hear the stories. This will definitely be a night people will never forget.”
Founded in 1999 by renowned psychotherapist Woods, M.Ed., and his partner Marylou Erbland, Ph.D., TCSI is a Houston-based residential and intensive outpatient treatment program for kids aged 12 to 17, whose psychological and emotional disorders, addictions and/or history of trauma have impaired their behavioral functioning and adversely impacted their everyday home, school and community environment.
All funds raised for Bejeweled 2019 through ticket sales and sponsorships are earmarked for the Center’s scholarship fund that extends treatment for patients and their families who need help beyond what the state or their insurance company will pay.
“We don’t like to turn these kids loose until they are fully equipped to become happy and productive members of their communities,” Woods said. “We are very proud of our success rates for the teens who complete our programs and in some cases it becomes vitally important to supplement their treatment through our scholarship fund to get those extra hours of treatment they may need.”
There are several ways to join the fun at Bejeweled 2019 with individual tickets and various levels of sponsorship offered. All attendees will enjoy what’s sure to be a memorable time with Campbell and McClain, live music, food, beverages and tours of Alara Garage, which houses some of the nicest privately-owned cars in Houston.
